Job Purpose:           

“To inform and help define the overall company technology strategy, aligning it to Lane Crawford’s business goals and long term vision.  Look for opportunities to continuously improve the business processes through coordination with user departments and end user support teams, develops and drives short- and long-term high-level solution designs and architecture strategy for the overall IT portfolio as well as ensuring a stable, sustainable and secure technology platform to support the business normal operations and growth.”


Key Accountabilities:

In addition to following Lane Crawford’s policies and procedures, key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:


Strategic Planning and Visioning

  • To translate business strategy into Technology Strategy and ensuring that new capabilities required by the business are supported
  • To assist in the development of the overall Technology Strategy aligned to Lane Crawford’s business imperatives
  • To ensure that the main focus in all Technology solution designs is maintained on the stakeholder values and customer experience focused.
  • To convert the long-term business vision into application and system design patterns leveraging industry standards where possible, to ensure the longevity of technology investments
  • To develop application and service roadmaps accommodating future requirements, growth, reusability and elasticity; helping to agree business priority through knowledge of technical dependencies 
  • To ensure that the overall Technology architecture is maintained in a coherent manner and that appropriate considerations are made for its integration, security and quality
  • To communicate to wider business the Technology strategy approach
  • To Communicate high-level business and organizational objectives to the Technology teams

Solution Architecture

  • To convert business and user requirements into high-level technical solution designs, using previously defined design patterns and industry standards
  • To effectively articulate system and application solutions through documented designs and communicate these with the business and technical teams
  • To ensure all application designs and systems support the vision of a service-oriented architecture
  • To propose solutions accommodating future needs while still allowing timely delivery on business requirements, defining phased release as appropriate to leverage most business value
  • To collaboratively propose and review proposed application changes for consistency with roadmap and soundness of design (functionality, availability, agility, manageability, scalability)
  • To select appropriate application development methodology; set up documentation standards; overall quality control and assurance according to industrial standards / best practices
  • To review and evaluate application packages, development tools, system upgrades and maintenance agreements
  • To oversee root cause analysis and issue resolution on high-priority and recurring issues


System Development and Maintenance

  • To own the overall picture of all Technology projects to ensure efficient allocation of people and resources
  • To oversee projects and handle any major issues and hurdles that may present themselves
  • To be responsible for ensuring high availability and security of all IT systems, networks and applications
  • To develop backup and disaster recovery strategy for all IT applications
  • To develop the team with cross-discipline competencies to ensure the efficiency and continuity of team productivity
  • To coordinate with user departments on IT service provision and the smooth running of applications, computer hardware, networking infrastructure and end user support teams


System Security

  • To adopt appropriate IT security measures based on current issues and best practices identified globally, regionally, by auditors and external influences
  • To develop guidelines specific to LC when required
  • To ensure security policies are adhered to by all users and vendors and continually reviewed
  • To lead by example and take a strong position with regards to system security
