As the General Merchandising Manager for our total Womens’ Ready-to-Wear portfolio, you will play a key leadership role. This department head position involves developing strategic merchandising plans, leading a team of buyers, and collaborating with global fashion brands and vendors to curate a compelling merchandise assortment. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving the success and growth of our Womenswear business.

 

The Role 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business and merchandise strategies to achieve sales and profit targets, aligned with Lane Crawford’s overall objectives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, including OTB, and expense control.
  • Set financial targets, sales goals, and KPIs ; monitor performance like sell through and inventory level consistently.
  • Conduct regular business reviews to identify strategic growth opportunities and implement merchandise and sales planning controls.
  • Lead buyers to curate a cohesive and diverse product assortment that aligns with Lane Crawford’s brand positioning and customer base.
  • Forecast trends by attending global exhibitions and trade shows.
  • Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market insights to optimize assortments and identify growth opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with global fashion brands and vendors, negotiate favorable commercial terms, maximize GP%, and secure exclusive collaborations.
  • Monitor supplier performance, sell-through, and deliveries; provide timely feedback and address issues.
  • Lead and inspire your team, offering guidance, coaching, mentorship, and support.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set individual goals, and provide regular feedback to ensure high performance.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Retail Operations to ensure seamless execution of merchandising strategies and promotional activities.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Allocation to optimize inventory, monitor sell-through, and manage stock replenishment.
  • Provide insights to support marketing campaigns and initiatives that drive customer engagement and sales.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 15+ years of senior merchandising experience in fashion retail, preferably within the assigned product categories.
  • Proven success in developing and executing merchandise strategies that drive revenue and profitability.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, and fashion industry dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills with global fashion brands and vendors.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
